Tall tales

Cousins are one of the greatest things in the world. Especially when you're a three year old boy! Wyatt and Luke are best buds. Since I'm on spring break I thought it would be a great time to have Luke come stay with us for a few days. In a lot of ways it's easier when there are two. They entertain each other for hours. But, it's also harder because two boys equal at least triple the amount of mischief. So while the boys were playing outside I was inside doing the dishes when I heard Wyatt crying. He's not much of a talker anyways so I wasn't too suprised when he wouldn't tell me what was wrong. So I asked Luke, who is a serious talker. This was when Luke came up with one of the greatest tales I have ever heard. He said that out of nowhere this rock started flying in the air and then hit Wyatt. I started laughing and asked him to demonstrate how a rock could fly by itself. He put his arms out and started flapping around, then said, "well, maybe it was me that threw it" He said sorry and they went on playing like nothing ever happened.

Laundry Time

I do a ton of laundry! It's amazing how me, Dustin and Wyatt can get so many clothes dirty so quickly. So a couple of weeks ago at MOPS the craft was to make a laundry soap kit. So, even though in my kit I had all the ingredients I put it off for a long time, mostly because I thought it would be hard or take too much time. I was totally wrong. It was super simple and didn't take very long at all. Okay, so here's the recipe
Homemade Laundry Soap

1/3 bar Fels Naptha(or another brand) it's by the detergent and looks just like a normal bar of soap, usually on the top shelf.

½ cup washing soda-not baking soda-again near the laundry detergent

½ cup borax powder

optional-you can add a fragrance or leave it to smell like basically nothing. I added 'exotic' from the body shop.

a small bucket, about 2 gallon size

Grate the soap and put it in a sauce pan. Add 6 cups water and heat it until the soap melts. Add the washing soda and the borax and stir until it is dissolved. Remove from heat. Pour 4 cups hot water into the bucket. Now add your soap mixture and stir. Now add 1 gallon plus 6 cups of water and stir. Let the soap sit for about 24 hours and it will gel. You use ½ cup per load.

So, I've done three loads with the new detergent and it works great.

Eagle crest

Last weekend Wyatt and I went to Eagle crest with Dan and Helen. It took about three and a half hours to get there. Wyatt was extra chatty on the way there. Kinda weird because he never talks in the car. It was very entertaining. He has lots of ideas about mountains and snow and how high up we were. And once again I was reminded that no matter how quiet and infrequent I swear, that boy hears it and you better believe it's going to be used later. Embarassing for sure. And even though i'm sure it's the absolute worst thing to do I couldn't not laugh at it. Oh well. We woke up Saturday morning (at 5:30 thanks to one excited 3 year-old) and went to see Santa's reindeer. They have the craziest antlers. Then we headed up to Mt. Bachelor to do some sledding. The sledding hill is so cool. The first trip down didn't go so well for Wyatt. But, by the second run he was smiling and half way up the hill before I knew it. We had a snowball fight too. I'm pretty sure I won the clumsy award for falling over absolutely nothing...several times. Pretty funny. We had lunch and headed back to go swimming. By 6:00p.m. Wyatt fell asleep. We missed Dustin so we headed back home in the morning.
I forgot Wyatt's gloves so he's wearing mine. It looks like he has strangely large hands. ha ha.
