Sushi for Kim

A couple months ago Parent magazine had a recipe for fake sushi. It's basically rice crispie treats. Soooo good. So for Kim's birthday I made her some and tried to trick her into thinking it was the real thing. So here's what I did
DSC_0002
you need to make basic rice crispie treats- butter marshmallow and rice crispies. While that's being made stick the fruit roll ups (the purple ones look the best) in the fridge. It's easier to peel them off that way.
DSC_0003
Flip the fruit roll up over so the bumpy side is on the bottom
DSC_0007
at first i used my hands, but that was a huge mess. i sprayed two spoons with pam and it worked much better.
DSC_0005
Add dried fruit. I put the tropical mix in there.

Then roll it up, stick it back in the fridge for a few minutes, spray a knife with pam and slice them up. pretty easy.

backyard camping

We set up a tent in the backyard to "camp" in.

Who needs one of those fancy fire pits when you have extra truck wheels.
DSC_0054
Wyatt would put the marshmallow on the stick swing it over the fire for less than two seconds then proceed to eating it. Pretty funny.

Sunny days are here.......fingers crossed (this is Oregon, after all)

We decided to move Wyatt's "garden" from our kitchen to the backyard, where it should be. While Dustin and I were planting Wyatt got to run through the sprinkler for the first time in 2009. So despite the fact that it's still technically spring, summer has started at the Dusschee house. I am a notorious plant killer, so wish us luck on this adventure in gardening. We planted peppers, corn, sunflowers, tomatoes, carrots, peas, squash, zucchini, pumpkins, a random mix of flowers and herbs. So, hopefully at least some of them will survive! :)

So, Wyatt and I were working on some crafts and he drew this. I asked him if it was his dad. He looks at me like i'm crazy. So, I ask if it was me. Again the crazy look. I ask if it's a truck. Still crazy. So finally I ask him what it is. His answer, a pickle. yup, that's a pickle.

Also Wyatt has decided that we have a baby. I went to use some baby lotion and he freaks out a little. I ask him what's wrong. He tells me not to use that lotion, it's for his baby sister. I asked him where this baby sister is and where did she come from. He tells me that his baby sister is in the hospital, because that's where babies come from. So then I ask him what her name is and he tells me "Weeden." Imagine if we were all named by three-year-olds. When I was pregnant I went to visit Nathan and he suggested that I name him Avacado instead of Wyatt.
I love my conversations with him. Today he also took the door mirror from my room and brought it into his room while we were playing in there. He's still completely facinated by how many goofy faces he can make. I asked him what it was and he said "a meard,( like beard, with a m) it's for lookin" So if you need to do some lookin, get yourself a meard.

I found what's at the end of the rainbow

being silly.

We took some silly pictures last night during a break from playing football. Dustin is not a huge fan of me taking his picture, but last night we were in a goofy enough mood that he went for it. Wyatt was NOT in the mood to get his picture taken at all!

The sun is behind Dustin, and he has a little case of the crazy eyes. Pretty funny.

You can still tell it's Dustin because of his ears!

sleeping

DSC_0002
So, Wyatt has been staying up a little later (almost 9:00 last night!!) So, I've actually been getting up in the morning before him. Here he is sleeping in my bed not wanting to get up. I just love how sweet they are when they sleep.....even at three and a half.

Glee

So, I was catching up on perezhilton.com today (because it's really important, I know) and I came across a preview for a new show called Glee. It looks hilarious. I'm a bit of a t.v. junkie, so instead of just adding it to the line up I have decided to drop a couple lame shows. I'm a little undecided, but as of right now I'm thinking 'The Hills' is just getting ridiculous, I definitely don't need 'C.S.I Miami' with all it's massive cheesiness (normally I find cheese to be good, but this is an exception, it's really really bad) and definitely 'One tree hill' which is one I actually already deleted recently.

wednesday suprise

Wyatt and I were getting ready for school, sharing a delicious strawberry-blackberry smootie, when the doorbell rang. It was FedEx with the most amazing package. Okay so maybe I wasn't totally suprised since I've been tracking it's every move since I ordered it a week ago. A new vacuum! Now, I could do a whole new post on just how many vacuum's I've gone through in the last few years, but that's boring and slightly embarassing, but it's been a lot (to say the least).
The best part according to Wyatt was the amazing box it came in

Check out what it got just on our rug!!! Yuck and cool all at the same time

Yummy Bouquet

We're going to the beach for Mother's day, so instead of bringing real flowers for Helen the boys made cookie flowers. It was really fun....and very delicious.

Tucker dog

Tucker is adjusting to being the only dog after Hoss died last week. It was really sad, but Hoss had been sick for several months and I'm glad he isn't suffering anymore. In the last two years I think I've only heard Tucker bark maybe twice. Now he is a lot more protective and barks when someone comes to the house. I never really understood the 'Alpha Dog' thing, but I have seen a huge change in Tucker this week. It's so interesting how dogs seem to work out who the leader is and the others just step back. But, I am still convinced that Tucker is part bunny because he kind of hops around everywhere.
